Your guide to Tanzania's wonders

We had a great 12 day trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar. The safari was fantastic and we were super happy with the excellent driver/guide Samuel Loto (a.k.a. Fundi) to drive us from Arusha around the Serengeti. Super friendly and knowledgeable and familiar with almost each nook and cranny in the park and got to see all the possible highlights. He seems to know almost all other safari drivers after 15 years in the job and the "BNN" (Bush News Network) worked well to get to see the rarer species (lion, cheetah, leopard, serval cat etc). As birders we were very lucky to have him as he knew each and every bird that we saw. He also carries birding guides in case he needs to check similar species. Accommodations varied with the more expensive one clearly the best (especially Ngare Sero Mountain lodge near Arusha and Manya Luxury Camp were both world class). You get what you pay for I guess and this company is not cheap. Tanzania specialist seems to be one of the biggest safari companies (looking at the large amount of their vehicles in the Serengeti) and they communicated well and can highly recommend them. Everything in the schedule with regard to accommodation, food boxes, schedule etc was perfectly organized. Was able to change flight (though had to ask them 3x) and driver departure time on the last day so we appreciated the flexibility. The company provides lots of information before the trip which is very helpful (though some key info & domestic flight tickets only came 1 day before our departure day, would be better to send this a little earlier..)

We have travelled for 9 days with Tanzania Specialist in September 2025. We have stayed 10/10 satisfied about our choice to travel with them and not with any other tourist company or travel agent. The company has indeed professionals in its team, from sales dept, up to drivers and service mechanics. The safari car we have used (plate number 893) was a very well-maintained car and we understood how important this was, as during our trip we saw many safari cars from other companies with mechanical or other problems. Our guide, Modest J. Mollel, was the best driver we could ever have. He was driving very carefully, we was very helpful, polite and experienced and we feel that we have made a new friend by meeting him. He did the extra-mile quite a lot of times to give us happiness and our mark for him is 11/10!! We are definitely recommending Modest to be your guide. Regarding the accommodation, everything was fantastic. The choice of hotels or tents exceeded our expectations. -Lake Manyara Best Lodge: 10/10, our first night could not be in a better place. Highly recommended for 1st night. Food was great, staff was great, view was amazing. -Dove Serengeti Camp: 10/10, staff 10/10, food 10/10. Highly recommended. In the Wind Camp: 11/10!!! At first we thought the facilities were not that great, but then we realized that the magic of this place is its location, its calmness, the animals just outside of our tent and the fact that you do not care at all about technology during your stay. You become one with the nature, you can relax 100/100 and both Alex the Manager and all the staff were unbelievable. For sure 11/10 for all of them. Staying there for 3 nights was a feeling which if someone does not stay there cannot understand. Food was excellent. -Angata Serengeti Camp: the night we stayed there was great, totally deserves 10/10. Both Glorian the Manager, and all the staff were very kind and helped us have a great stay there. Food was good. -The Retreat in NgoroNgoro: 10/10! They have done great work with their garden of the lodge, the villas are fantastic. The food and the staff get 10/10. The lunch box we have got was the best of all the places we have stayed. -Kahawa House in Arusha 9.5/10: it was much better than we thought it would be. Perfect location for our last night. Great choice. Food was very good, breakfast can become a little bit better. We have seen all Big-5. Our guide, Modest, has a “star” as he could get us to the right place, the right time. At the same time he respected 100/100 all of the animals and the rules of the parks and this made us feel very special. The animal’s Mara River crossing was a fantastic experience and is highly recommended. The hot air balloon with Miracle Experience is a must and worths all of its money. Especially our pilot, Cezar Perez, was an unbelievable guy with a great sense of humor, knowledge and he took care of us in the best possible way. 10/10. The 24/7 emergency person made us feel that there was always someone there to solve directly any of our problems. We know that this is not easy, but they are doing it very very well. 11/10!

If you are traveling to Tanzania, book with Tanzania Specialist. My husband and I requested a private tour that included 2 days in Zanzibar, 4 days in Gombe National Park doing chimpanzee treks with Mkanza, and an 8 day safari in the Serengeti. This required coordination of various domestic flights, working with MbaliMbali and Gombe Park staff, and Tanzania Specialist 's expert safari guide, Fadi, for our 8 days in the Serengeti. They provided us with the best experiences possible and saw to our every need. The accommodations throughout the trip were wonderful! Tanzania Specialist really is a five-star company.

We had a beautiful holiday in Tanzania, full 7 days safari, then Stonetown and Mafia. The organization was perfect as well as the advice given by Romane who dealt with it all. Easy, responsive and trustful. The accommodation was magnificent ! I recommend

We recently did an 8 day safari with Haji as our guide, who was absolutely fantastic, couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He was fun to be with, extremely knowledgeable about everything from animals and their habits to flora and fauna. He found the Big 5 for us, which we were so happy about and there were even more animals to come. Haji did not disappoint at all. My husband and I just had a wonderful 10 day safari and Zanzibar experience with Tanzania specialists and couldn't be happier with the service! The communication via email was solid during the long research/booking process (with Victoria). Then we had easy and regular communications via What's App with Riziki throughout our trip, which was very smooth. You end up with quite a few different drivers/people (for airport transfers, etc.) and all went well. Lastly, and most importantly, was a fabulous safari driver, Akbar! He was a 35 year veteran of driving safaris and was so very knowledgeable about the terrain, the wildlife and where to go/when to see the best things. We saw the big 5 (Rhinos were tough and we could only catch a glimpse of the top of them but we're counting it!). The lions, elephants, cape buffalo, giraffe, wildebeast, leopard, cheetah, sooo amazing to see and see UP CLOSE! We really appreciate how attentive, safe and knowledgeable he was as your driver can really make or break your trip. Would highly recommend this organization as it's quite big (lots of trucks/drivers) with a lot of resources behind them so if something does happen, you know you'll have people there to help out in no time. The resorts were also quite wonderful, especially the glamping tent in the middle of the Serengetti!! Wow! Thank you so much!

I'm so glad i went with my gut and booked with Tanzania Specialist!! They are very attentive and if issues arise they are right there if there is anything wrong or you need clarification on anything in your itinerary! Our guide Emanuel was absolutely AMAZZZZINNNGGGGGG!!!! You can definitely tell he takes pride in his job and he was so nice and sweet to us and made sure we had everything we needed!!! He was like our father away from home!!! Honestly this is the best experience you will ever have!! I would 100% book with them again!!! For those wondering we did the 10 days half safari half Zanzibar! They organized everything so beautifully. This also allowed us to make friends who also had the same company, we would see each other through out safari activities etc, great way to meet new people as well!! For those who would like to do solo travel this is def a great company to go with as well!! Trust me they are professionals!!

A five star experience , everything was planned perfectly and exactly as promised. From a lovely warm and friendly welcome at the airport from Jackson to wonderful food, lunch packages, dinners in comfortable lodges and tented camps! BUT what made our experience the best was our wonderful guide Jonas Loiruk Mollel! We won the lottery with him!! He goes beyond just driving and pointing out animals. As a driver he was punctual, attentive, alert and responsable. As a guide, he has exceptional knowledge not only about the wildlife but also about birds, flora, the ecosystem, local culture, geography and history, there was no question that he couldn't answer , and we tried!! He could track and spot animals when we couldn't even see them with binoculars, amazing! As a person he is enthusiastic, friendly, kind, engaging, interesting with an amazing sense of humour. He is an educator with a deep respect for the environment and wildlife and above all an excellent host for Tanzania. Thank you Jonas for making our Safari in Tanzania so memorable. My son (41) and I (75) just returned from our (8 day) African Safari. We were highly pleased and impressed with our safari through Tanzania Specialist. Our safari was personal, just the two of us. Tanzania Specialist is large and well stabilized. The organization of my vacation was perfect, with zero faults. Knowing nothing about Tanzania and Safari when registering, Tanzania Specialist supplied a ton of information, and tailored our vacation to be a good match. The information supplied was useful, for instance: what to pack, how to pack, how to approach tips, and much more. We did not have any issues, with hotel reservations. meals, and time scheduling. All communications before and during the trip were promptly addressed. The guide/driver (Sam) was knowledgeable and loves his job. There was an additional 2 guides, for the night drive we set up with a park ranger (with rifle). Very exciting. We were advised the daily drives would be between 6-7 hours however we only had one day less than 8 hours to our delight. We are pleased to share this review, where I have only great things to share. Trip of a life time....check.

An Unforgettable Experience – Highly Recommended! We can wholeheartedly recommend Tanzania Specialist for an outstanding safari experience. Everything was perfectly organized, making our trip seamless and enjoyable. We booked a 7-day safari tour (plus travel days), and every moment was incredible. Our personal highlight was Lake Manyara National Park—an absolute must-see! Our guide, Benjamin, was exceptional. Hats off to his impressive skills: an outstanding driver, a keen wildlife spotter (no matter how well-hidden the animals were), and a fantastic storyteller with a great sense of humor. The safari vehicle was also remarkably comfortable, even for spending multiple hours each day on bumpy roads. The lodges and hotels were simply wonderful—beautifully located, with incredibly friendly staff and delicious food. Just keep in mind that air conditioning is generally not available in Tanzanian hotel rooms. All in all, we had a flawless experience and can highly recommend Tanzania Specialist. We traveled in late February, which was perfect in terms of both climate and wildlife sightings.
